Early Life

Bishnu Prasad Rabha was born on January 31, 1909, in Dhaka, Bengal Presidency (now in Bangladesh). His family later moved to Assam, where he grew up. Rabha was a bright student and pursued higher education at Ripon College in Calcutta (now Surendranath College) and later at Carmichael Medical College. 

Contributions to Arts and Culture

Rabha was a polymath, excelling in various fields including music, dance, drama, literature, and painting. He was an accomplished musician and is credited with developing a unique form of Assamese music known as Rabha Sangeet. His literary works include poems, short stories, and plays, which often carried themes of social justice and cultural pride. Rabha's contributions to Assamese culture earned him the title "Kalaguru" (Master of the Arts By Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan).

Freedom Struggle Journey

Rabha's involvement in the Indian freedom struggle was marked by his dedication to fighting against British colonial rule. He joined the Indian National Congress and later became an active member of the Revolutionary Communist Party of India. His political activities included organizing peasant movements and participating in protests against British policies.
